I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of clinical experience. I have a passion for helping individuals and families use their inherent strengths to overcome life’s challenges. I love bearing witness to people’s healing journeys and standing beside them as they discover new parts of themselves, heal their wounded parts, and thrive in ways they never thought possible.
My experience includes providing therapy for children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings who are struggling with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other mood and anxiety-related disorders. Because I work with people, not diagnoses, I believe effective treatment involves identifying root causes and contributing factors around distress. Stressful life situations and transitions, developmental trauma, recent traumatic experiences, interpersonal conflict, and low self-worth often manifest as addiction, body image issues, mood instability, compulsive behaviors, and overwhelming anxiety. My approach prioritizes each client and his or her needs, and the foundation of any modality or technique I use is always my relationship with the client.
I find some specific modalities are especially helpful. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which I have been using for several years. This evidence-based tool has the potential to have a transformative impact, giving people with histories of traumatic experiences a way to heal. EMDR is also useful in helping people who find themselves stuck having emotional reactions they don’t understand or who struggle with unwanted behaviors or feelings.
I am also trained in and offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in partnership with Journey Clinical. Ketamine is a medication that, when used under careful supervision and in the context of a relationship with a therapist, can help clients gain insights, heal from traumatic experiences and relationships, and increase their sense of self-compassion. In turn, this can help with symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other emotional issues with which many people struggle.
As a mom of two children, I love working with other parents to help them achieve their parenting goals and to support them in creating a peaceful, stable, loving home. I also work with families on communication issues and find that when parents are able to self-regulate, they can help their children learn those skills as well.
Healing and recovery are hard work, but they are well worth the effort. I believe that if you’ve come this far, you already have what you need to do the work before you. Bring your whole self, even the messy parts and the ones you’ve had to hide, and let’s work together to create the kind of life you would like to have.
